  2. I bought this to setup my HP DV9260Nr Notebook, I have a Direct TV HD Satellite box connected to it, speakers sound a lot better then the notebook, more bass. My notebook has a HD DVD player and remote control so I record a lot of programs on my ltop via Vista Ultimate 64 and the media center. Adding an external hard drive is a easy task, and it fits inside the rear of the base so you never see the hard drive. wireless mouse and keyboard, just as sturdy as any desktop keyboard and mouse, extra usb ports and Blue lcd lights on the controls to match my hp laptop 2 headphone connectors in the front and a mic input. A great way to replace that bulky desktop.

  3. I purchased this item (which included the wireless mouse and keyboard) very inexpensively last year, and even after 2 receivers, the wireless does not work. Admittedly, being able to have a docking station setup for the printer and separate speaker system and mouse is great, but the sheer size of the thing is a drawback as well. It is certainly not worth the price I see listed. You might want one for less than $100, but beware the wireless aspect. There are a lot of complaints about this product on various sites.

  4. I chose this over the xb2000 because of the additional USB ports. It was easy to set up and it makes reconnecting my laptop to all my peripherals (printer, scanner, PDA, backup drive, flash drive, etc.) very easy.

My only reservation about this product is that it is bulky and has a larger footprint than I would prefer. On the postive side, however, this bulk makes for a very solid base and includes some heavy duty speakers.

  5. I purchased mine directly from HP. When I recieved it, there were scuffs and cratches on the main base. I was obvious that it was a used or referbished unit. For $200 this is rediculous. I normaly shy away from HP products because this company has done a nose dive tword the crap end when it comes to product quality and support.

Another problem is that the xB3000 did not come with a single piece of documentation. You cant count the 40 page quick start manual as only about 2 pages are in english and all they do is refer you to the Quick start flyer that basicly says 1:Insert Laptop. 2:Plugin Laptop. 3:Plugin Power. 4:Turn on Laptop.

THATS IT. No docs. No explination of what all the connectors on the back are used for.

As for the quality of the Mouse and Keyboard. They are not that cheap. I would class them on the average scale. Personaly I would rather have had a extra power supply.

The good news is that they mouse and keyboard reciever is USB so it can be used direcly with the laptop if you are want to. They can even be used with another computer.

I mainly purchased the base as a conviniant way of hooking up several y USB items while at home. Such as printer and external hard drive.
